JEN GREER OF JEN GREER PHOTOGRAPHY

PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER BASED IN PORTALND OR, ALSO SERVING LOS ANGELES, PALM SPRINGS,AND DESTINATIONS WORLDWIDE

While photography is my second career choice (I grew up in the wild west of the internet days coding and producing websites for studios and large firms) it has always been my first love. I’ve been shooting since I was a kid and always made homemade darkrooms in my closets or laundry room. I still kind of miss the smell of the chemicals. Landscapes and cityscapes were my favorite subjects back in the day.

I grew up in Toronto, Canada and moved to Los Angeles, California when I was 21 (I very luckily have dual citizenship, or as I like to say, I am a Canarican). I turned my love and hobby of photography into a successful wedding & portrait business in Los Angeles for over 15 years. Photographing weddings, for me, had been one of the most rewarding and creative outlets I could have ever found. The sheer pressure of responsibility to capture all of these once in a lifetime moments, the extreme pace of the day, and trying to keep cool throughout was eye opening for me when. I gained a huge amount of respect for the art and craft of documenting weddings, and the honor I had of capturing these moments & their families for my clients. I thrived on what once seemed to be daunting task and loved documenting these amazing days.

After my second son was born, Portland, Oregon was my next adventure. After visiting good friends for years, I fell in love with this city and made it a mission to be the next place I would set roots. In the many years of documenting weddings, one of my favorite parts about shooting those days were the people. I loved being able to bring out their personalities and making portraits or moments of them they would love.

I’m now taking that aspect of what I love about photographing people and focusing on portraiture. Be it families, seniors, headshots or documenting your business & branding your style. My mission is to show who you really are, while also highlighting the best about you.

One common piece of feedback I get from my clients is, how comfortable I make them in front of the camera. Let’s face it, not many of us like to be in front of a lens. With my goal of showing the real you, I want to get to know who you actually are. With this connection, it then makes it easier for us all to just be ourselves and have a great time, I just happen to be holding a camera and snapping great imagery at the same time.

FAQ's

WHAT IS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHIC STYLE?

I like to use the term Editorial Photojournalism to describe my work. Essentially, I feel my work is a nice combination of some traditional, timeless portraits, as well as catching candid moments. My end goal is to capture who you really are, at your best.

DO YOU TRAVEL?

Have passport, will travel. I’ve traveled for many photo jobs (Los Angeles, Portland, Toronto, Hawaii, Mexico to name a few) and personally traveled a lot of the world (All over Europe, India, Nepal, Vietnam, Japan, Hong Kong…) and am game to go just about anywhere. As long as it’s Covid safe, of course.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A PHOTOGRAPHER?

I started my first photography business in 2003. So, a long time!

CAN I/WE SHARE YOUR IMAGES?

Yes! I’m super happy for you to share my images via social media, but I have a few rules. Please always link back to me/give photo credit (both Facebook & Instagram are: @jengreerphotography). I do not allow any tampering with the images however, but I am happy to give you web ready files to use. Please check out my page on Copyright if you have further questions on uses of my images.

WHAT KINDS OF PHOTOGRAPHY DO YOU DO?

Right now, I’m focusing on Online Dating Photos, Family Portraits, Headshots, Seniors & Branding. I ran a wedding photography business in Los Angeles for 15 years, before moving to Portland Oregon.

I also have a Fine Art shop available; I would love you to check out.

WILL YOU EVER SHOOT WEDDINGS OR EVENTS AGAIN?

Yes! I shot weddings and Mitzvah’s for 15 years in Los Angeles, usually around 35 a year! I loved them and always was so honored to capture those amazing days for my clients. Since moving to Portland Oregon, I've slowed down and I now shoot a handful of weddings a year, because I can't quite give them up!
