Mark Lau is a Portland executive whose alma mater, LMU, was writing a profile of him for its alumni newsletter. They needed photos of him in his professional environment, so we spent a rainy session shooting right outside his companies Employee Store. We shot in the rain and had a great time doing it. Here’s how it came together.
An alumni feature needs images of Mark enjoying his work at his company, not a stock portrait. The newsletter needed photos that showed him with his company’s logo and amenities in the background. We captured the joy he finds in working where he does.
We shot on location at the Nike Employee Store. I photographed Mark with the swoosh in the background and among the green trees that give the area its local feel. The drizzle gave us a perfectly Portland backdrop for his story, and these environmental executive portraits capture it.
Mark received a curated gallery of 200 edited images, sized for online and print use. We shot a mix of close headshots and full-body shots. Some are more serious, and others are really fun, showing the relaxed side of where he works.
The photos were used for his alma mater’s alumni newsletter profile.
If you’re being featured in a newsletter, magazine, book or news story, you need photos that look professional and show you in your element. A session can include environmental portraits at your workplace or in the city, clean headshots, and a range of looks. I’ll plan it around where the images will be used.
I’m based in SW Portland and love working on location around the city, rain or shine. Tell me where you’d like to shoot and we’ll plan it together.
